writing on paper

We are thrilled to congratulate freshman Bailey Worden, who recently achieved a remarkable feat in academic competitions. She was awarded a first-place certificate in the National Writing Competition of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) for her outstanding poem, “Perfection,” which she wrote last year as an eighth grader at JFS. Bailey’s poem impressed judges at the regional level and soared to success at the state level, earning her the top honor in both categories. This achievement highlights Bailey’s talent and dedication, and it’s a moment of pride for our school community.

The GFWC’s writing contest is known for celebrating creativity and literary talent among young writers. Bailey’s poem, “Perfection,” captured the attention of the judges with its insight and depth, standing out among many other entries. Her accomplishment serves as an inspiration for fellow students to pursue their passions and explore their creative potential.

JFS 8th-grade English teacher Deborah Blodgett-Lachmanski was instrumental in helping Bailey with her writing and 7th-grade English teacher Lisa Spaccaforno, district contest coordinator, assisted Bailey with the entry process.

Once again, congratulations to Bailey on this well-deserved recognition! Her achievement is a testament to hard work, creativity, and the power of mentorship.
