This Halloween, students enjoyed more than just costumes and candy; they participated in engaging and educational activities.
The Diversity Café and ENL teachers hosted a Halloween Lunch with food donated by Halal Bites, Moe's, and Nirchi's, funded by Burlington Coat Factory and Adopt a Classroom, and desserts from U-E moms. English learner students painted pumpkins, mingled with peers, and enjoyed a festive meal, fostering a sense of community and language practice. There was even a friendly competition on who spoke the most languages. The winner can speak SIX languages!
In Dee Woods-Gaston’s 9th and 10th grade English classes, students shared 100-word scary stories. This creative exercise honed their storytelling skills, focusing on suspense and concise writing. The classroom buzzed with excitement as students read their tales aloud, celebrating creativity and the Halloween spirit.
These activities showcased how Halloween can also be a meaningful learning experience, blending fun, creativity, and education.
